The service to use devices remotely is called "Remote Device Access" and it's free for all Forum Nokia members (free registration). All you need to do is book the device, a browser and Java.

The service has been available for a while, but it looks like not many people know it. See here: http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/Remote_device_access/

http://www.infoq.com/articles/learnings-five-years-skype-architect

You will have to scan the comments before there is any remarks about the Skype desktop app. It seems that desktop development is a dirty word and the Skype architect is prepared to talk about server techologies and web technologies just not the desktop.

I guess because the non window versions uses QT. This has been a problem for applications written in Delphi to date. That the tool excels on one platform only. My point earlier is that there is a convergence with Delphi and QT when Delphi 2011 arrives Q4 2010. (taken from comments on their forums). Nokia could enable the Delphi community by paying Embarcadero to extend the cross platform feature futher.

Hi Alex, yeah, my comment was more on the consumer view of the current handset stream rather than the % of sales etc. on the 'top of game' comment, in which to that respect I agree, but that they are top of 'the' game but not necessarily top of 'their' game. There have been a spate of distinctly average handsets but the upcoming N8 and indeed the few phones to follow that should really put Nokia back in a top of their game mode when it comes to consumer chit chat.

Im glad to hear that you think symbian apps are coming up thick and fast, but you can still look at a lot of the major social brands that don't have their own Symbian app yet do for droid etc etc etc. They have been slow in the 1st instance and seen the others race past but its not a quantity over quality issue as far as Im concerned.

Like you, I think they get the N8 spot on as final smart N-series Symbian, then the following meego phones, then yes... a very bright future again across smartphone, phone and 'mobile computer' phone

"Skype was given as an example of a QT desktop app"

Skype desktop on Windows is written is Delphi. Well the GUI layer is. There appears to be some wishful thinking here.
